Are You Making These 3 Article Marketing Mistakes?
Although there are plenty of ways to market your business online, nothing beats article marketing. It allows you to brand yourself or your business, build valuable backlinks, and increase your rankings in the search engines. This leads to more targeted traffic, as well as more traffic for your business.
Before you start to write your articles though, there are three things you need to consider:
1. Confusing article marketing with article writing.
Article marketing is about branding, lead generation, promotion, and search engine optimization. Article writing is about informing your audience about your topic. Writing good articles helps to drive targeted traffic to your site. It's the pull strategy, not the push strategy.
With other marketing strategies, you are pushing others to visit your site. With pull marketing, you draw visitors into your site because you have something they're looking for.
Pull marketing is much more effective because it gives your visitors a reason to want to visit your site.
2. Failing to maximize promotional opportunities.
Search engine optimization is an important part of your overall article marketing strategy. By placing your keywords in strategic places throughout your article, it helps you rank better in the search engines and target your audience.
There is more to it than that though. Your overall goal for article marketing, after offering value and building relationships, is to get visitors to your site.
The easiest way to do this is to syndicate your article in as many places as possible. Publish in as many quality directories as you can. If you know of a list owner who uses others articles for his/her website or list, send a copy of your article. This is additional free publicity that's easy to get.
One article in the right place may be all you need to increase your visibility on your topic and get you more sales.
3. Publishing content that doesn't benefit your readers.
If your primary focus is always about getting backlinks and promoting a particular product, eventually you will run into problems.
One mistake many article writers make is thinking that because an article directory may have low traffic that the directory is low quality. Not so. Most article directories have specific guidelines on the type of articles they accept. Your article needs to meet those guidelines.
There are good overall guidelines you can follow to make sure your article gets accepted in as many places as possible. Follow the guidelines. Write quality articles.
